It seems like every other day a new band will suffice on myspace, you know, the whole “scene/crunk/electro” type of bands. The shit is just flat out disgusting, there’s really nothing clever about the lyrics, the style, or the music. It’s just there, as much as you don’t want it to be.

I received Brokencyde’s new record titled: “I’m not a fan..but the kids like it.” Lets just say I was sort of disturbed and intrigued at the same time. I have been following this band since the drop of their debut ep titled; ” BC13, which stands for Brokencyde 13.” I’m not going to lie, I loved that ep, it was basically the first ep of that style of music that no one had done before; at least to my knowledge?

“I’m not a fan..but the kids like it.” Starts off the banger “Freaxxx,” this song is basically auto-tune to the max, with pig growls and horrifying screams in the background, the lyrics consist of; lets get freaky now, lets get fucking freaky now, lets fucking drink, lets get crunk, bitches tipsy trying to sex me up.” – I know it’s quite disturbing. Believe it or not, this is one of the better songs on: “I’m not a fan..but the kids like it.”

The next track is titled: “Skeet Skeet,” If you don’t know what the term “Skeet” is; google it. This is great party song, the lyrics are pretty hilarious, but again the lyrics consists of the same shit as above. The great thing about this song is the beat, it just drags you in as the song proceeds.

“Booty Call” Is the next track off “I’m not a fan..but the kids like it.” This song was produced by the huge bay-area rapper “E-40” In my opinion E-40 sounds like he constantly has a dick in his mouth while he’s rapping, but hey, that’s just me. This song is Brokencyde’s first single off “I’m not a fan..but the kids like it.” Bad decision in my opinion, then again there really isn’t any better songs than this on the record.

“Get Crunk” is the next track, this track has an awesome beat, you can tell the band actually spent more than a couple hours throwing this song together, the lyrics are still quite horrible, I guess that’s what you should expect from a band full of crunk scene kids.

The rest of “I’m not a fan..but the kids like it.” Just goes downhill, there really isn’t any other highpoint of the album. Some people eat this shit up, quite frankly I don’t understand how, I just refer to the album-title: “I’m not a fan..but the kids like it.”

This album was a complete dissappoint for myself, I will be looking into other similar bands, brokencyde you have lost one fan.
