So as a reviewer, I always have a “favorite” summer-album every year: I thought that I found it when “The Dangerous Summer” dropped their new record, which is why is it such a huge surprise when I received The Friday Night Boy’s new record “Off The Deep End” in my mailbox yesterday morning, this is byfar going to be THE summer album of 2009. I can’t seem to describe how delicious this album really is, I reccomend picking this up on June 9th, this is unbelieveable pop-punk at it’s finest.

“Off The Deep End” is filled with pop-punk goodness to the brim; song after song, listen after listen—you’ll still be craving more. Track two “Stupid Love Letter” is one of my personal favorites on the record, the first part of the song is “chopped and screwed” but suddenly busts right into The Friday Night Boy’s speciality; catchy pop-punk. This song has a downbeat-slow tempo, but cuts right into dual-vocal pop-punk, with a nice strolling drum beat.

“Finding Me Out” is definitely one of the slower songs on the record, I for one hate slow songs on a pop-punk album, but this song is so deliciously-beautiful you gotta love it. The lyrics are a bit cliche’ the tempo is really bland and boring, although the vocal range in this song is incredible.

“Stuttering” Right off the bat you can tell this is going to be the radio-hit of the summer, you’ll hear it over-and-over again on the radio all summer long, that is how catchy this song seriously is. I can’t believe The Friday Night Boys have matured so much since their debut EP release in 2007.

“Molly Makeout” the return of “molly makeout – this song was originally a bonus track if you bought The Friday Night Boy’s Debut EP via iTunes.” This song has been re-done, and I would assume re-mastered since it sounds a ridicolous amount better. This is one of the those songs that seem to be a hit to the sceney-kids, I’m not much of a fan, but if you search youtube to “Molly makeout” you’ll get about 200 hits of sceney youtube kids, doing karaoke, or singing to the song. I guess that’s pretty cool.

The last track “Sorry I stole your girl” is amazingly produced, but the boys used a tad bit too much on the auto-tune. The beat on this is awesome, and I find myself tapping my foot on the floor singing along with every listen.

“Off The Deep End” is an amazing effort from The Friday Night Boys, I cannot wait to see these dudes on the warped tour this summer, these guys are to BLOW up.
